The first residents of what became the City of Dublin were Native American Indians. The tribes that once thrived here were the Hopewell, Adena, Delaware, Shawnee and Wyandot.
After the Revolutionary War, the U.S. Government granted Lieutenant James Holt 2,000 acres of land as payment for his service. In the early 1800s, John Sells and his family purchased 400 acres of land along the Scioto River, and the area was platted as a village in 1810. Today, the site of Sell's original purchase is known as Historic Dublin.
Today, Dublin is one of the most progressive and growing cities in Central Ohio. The Dublin Irish Festival and Memorial Tournament bring tens of thousands of people to Dublin each year, ensuring the strong economic outlook for the City.
